Club Promoting Blog Summary:
Here I talk about an event the liquor sponsor I now work is thinking about getting behind. Basically it’s a party that an in-house promoter at a pretty big club is throwing as an afterparty for the BET Hip-Hop Music Awards in Atlanta. The company i’m with is considering giving them a $10k sponsorship towards their promotion. They are going to be securing a huge artist, running tons of radio ads, and bring in roughly 100 cases of the liquor to be the premier beverage for the night. The promoter is working hand in hand with the club to make this happen.
I’ll give you the play by play as things progress so you can see how this stuff works. Note that the club promoter will be doing this party regardless if any sponsors are involved or not. The promotion isn’t dependent on obtaining sponsorship dollars…it’s more so to help them recoup their expenses.

I mentioned before in my previous blog that I accepted a job from a liquor company that I’ve worked with in the past to help them put together events for their brand.
I said that I’d be giving you guys updates on how things work from the inside…so here it is!!:
So far we’re only working out deals with nightclubs, bars, and restaurants directly…and not seeking promoters to help set up events. The company I’m with is seeking to move product so they want clubs to buy cases in exchange for us to come in and sponsor an event to help move the product for the venue.
As a promoter, you should try to approach club bar managers and/or general managers and see if they have any relationships with liquor reps like myself. Ask them if it’s possible for you to promote and market that brand on your marketing materials when you promote your night at that venue. The club can then route any sponsorship dollars from the liquor company straight to you for your promotion. This would be win-win for everyone because the liquor company has sold some cases, the club has you setting up a party to help move the cases, and you get assistance with the marketing and advertising cost.

Here i’m answering club promoter questions on how to throw a party. These are straight from my forum located at http://www.partypromoting.com/forum

The first one was about a club promoter that was throwing a party and it went wrong. His outcome was small and he seemed kind of discouraged because he put so much of his time and effort into it. I told him to not be discouraged and understand that every club promoter has thrown a bad party. If someone says they haven’t then they’re not a real club promoter!! We’ve all had bad nights!
I then suggested that he beef up his promotion with more flyers, using draws like special guest host, popular dj, and drink specials, and also considering using co-promoters to help pull in more party people.

The next question was about a young lady that wanted to put money into a club promoters promotion with the promise of him giving her back 50% return on her investment. My response was to not do it. No one can guarantee you something back on an investment like a party promotion. I told her to look into getting collateral for her investment or see if she can be actively involved in that promotion and get a percentage of the outcome.
