When to Give Up or Change Up Your Party/Nightclub Promotion

Saturday, July 23rd, 2011

http://www.partypromoting.com

Blog summary:
As a weekly club promoter you have know when to keep pushing forward with a new promotion and when to fold ‘em!
As I mentioned in the Party Promoting 3.0 learning course, you should always give a weekly promotion at least 4-6 weeks to see if it’s growing or not. This is assuming that you are doing everything you’re supposed to be doing as a promoter (ie. Flyers, Texting, Emailing, Social Networking, etc.) If you don’t see it grow you have to consider quitting, but before you do, consider restructuring your night to give it a chance. I was able to turn a slow Saturday night promotion around by renegotiating with the club and making the party free all night w/ no cover. I had the club pay all in-house expenses and give me a better bar commission. I tried it out for a couple of weeks, and it worked! Great crowd, great party, great money…just needed a little tweeking.
So consider tweeking your promotion before giving up on it and give it another 4-6 weeks to see how your crowd takes to it.

Promoting your party with Emails vs. Text Messages

http://www.partypromoting.com - Learn how to be a successful Club Promoter!

Blog Summary:
Here I go over a few pros and cons of promoting your party with Emails versus using Text Messages. Both are great to use to advertise your party with, but if you have to choose, I give you a few things to think about and plus my personal opinion on which I think is most effective.

Here’s a quick breakdown of what I discuss in the video blog…
Text Message Pros:
-Instant Delivery
-Keyword Opt-in
-Easy for people to forward

Text Message Cons:
-People’s numbers change often
-Text hosting is expensive (.02-.05 cents per text)
-Can’t convey much info

Email Pros:
-Can include images, links, and more general info
-Cost effective
-You can send more blasts without recipients feeling bothered

Email Cons:
-Some people don’t check email everyday
-Spam filters may block your email

My personal opinion is that Email marketing is best due to it being more cost effective and can convey more information.

A lesson on doing contracts when Promoting Parties

Tuesday, April 5th, 2011

http://www.partypromoting.com

Blog summary:

So first, Lebron James’ lawyer threatens to sue me over promoting a party with his name on it. Now Lebron is getting sued for not showing up to a party he was paid to be at. A great lesson to learn when it comes to doing your paperwork and having everything in order. Apparently he allowed himself to be booked at 2 venues after already accepting a deposit to show up to the first club he had an appearance deal with.
Things like this do happen from time to time, but being prepared for stuff like this is the key. Always hope for the best, but plan for the worst.

Lebron James Suing Me Over A Party Promotion?

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

Visit my site http://www.partypromoting.com - Learn How To Throw A Party The Right Way

Yes, Lebron James’ lawyer mailed me about a potential law suit over using his name on a party for one of my clients. Take this as a lesson and do things the right way!

I have another company here in Atlanta called Atlanta After Dark (atlafterdark.com) where I do email marketing for local nightclubs and promoters. One of my clients had me send out an email for a party being hosted by LeBron James and Joe Johnson of the Atlanta Hawks. Word got around to LeBron’s lawyer and he acted swiftly to shut it down due to it not being an official contract on the booking. Check out my video and I’ll show you the flyer and the letter the lawyer sent me. I’ll also tell you how to avoid this from happening to you!!

Party Promoting Tip #4

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

http://www.partypromoting.com - Learn how to throw a party the right way!

This new blog post is about properly dealing with people you work with when it comes to compensation. This includes DJ, door personnel, security, etc. People don’t like to get stiffed nor do they like to get sent home early after they already made plans to be there. If you run into a problem where you find yourself having to make cut backs, make sure you notify anyone working for you that you might not need them. Also, consider giving them some form of flat compensation, like gas money, if they do come all the way out to work and you turn them right back around to go home.
The other tip was to never plan on paying your set expenses to these people from money you speculate to make at the door. Always have people’s money on your person and be prepared to pay out of your pocket just in case the worst scenerio arises…which is your door not making any money.

The bottom line - Be Prepared.
